My Views – Starting Your Own Business

In the home business arena, it is not just about joining any home business opportunity; rather, it is about choosing a home business opportunity with the qualities that resonate with you.

These are some of the  criteria that you should use to choose a home business opportunity:

  • a great home business opportunity that makes a difference

  • provides the pertinent training and support

  • supplies the required tools and systems needed

  • has a reasonable startup cost

  • a compensation plan that makes sense to you

Most people fail at starting and running their own homebased business not because they are not capable of doing so but because they lack the necessary knowledge, training, guidance and support needed during the infancy stages of their businesses. They need to connect and communicate with others who have already traveled the road of home business ownership so that they can make use of their expertise and experience.

Additionally, you have to have the right mindset first and foremost. You have to think like a business owner once you become a business owner. You are no longer an employee. You are going to be on an emotional roller coaster during the process of starting your own home business but this is normal. You just have to keep the emotional bar down.

You will have to go through the mud so that you can come out on the opposite side of failure. Moreover, you will have to follow the path less traveled but as you follow this path, one day you will see the sign that says this is the road to financial freedom.

Furthermore, you have to believe in yourself. You have to tell yourself that you can do this – You will do this. You will succeed and if nothing else, you have to believe this with every fiber of your being. You will have to set SMART and SHARP goals and have a plan to achieve them. You have to ask yourself – what do I want to achieve by starting my own home business? Most people will say that their goal is to make a lot of money. For a fact, your “why” is greater than just the need to make money.

As a matter of fact, what you  really want is the financial and time freedoms that unlimited income can afford you. You want to be free of the worry and stress of not having enough money to pay for your living expenses and to provide for your retirement. Most of all, you want to live your life on your own terms and be able to spend time with friends, family and doing your life’s work whatever that may be.

In addition, to succeed at your home business, you have to be willing to take the necessary actions. You will have to do things that you don’t want to do. “Anyone can do something when they want to do it. Really successful people do things when they don’t want to do it.” Dr. Phil Mc Graw.

Moreover, you have to realize that the economy has moved on. Robert Kiyosaki says that Network Marketing is the business of the 21st century because it takes very little upfront cash, it has low overhead and you can start it part-time while you keep your day job. He says “it’s a business about people helping other people make money so they become financially free. It’s not about selling, it’s about people helping people build assets, becoming business owners, then becoming investors.”

More importantly, you have to get out of your comfort zone in order to bring about change in your life. There are four types of people in the world – those who want to be right, those who want to be comfortable, those who want to be liked and those who want to win. You have to be a person who wants to win so you have to take the good with the bad.

There is going to be smooth sailing and there certainly will be rough sailing as well. It is the trials and tribulations that you encounter in life that build strength and content of character. You need this strength and a strong “why” to succeed at starting your own home business. You have to be extremely disciplined and treat your business like a business so that it will pay you like a business. If you treat it like a hobby, it will cost you money.

Finally, “I believe the purpose of our lives is to create something unique that entertains, instructs, challenges or helps others. I believe all of us are capable {and thus responsible} of utilizing our creative abilities to become masters of our own lives.” Unknown

To our success!

Top 7 Business Principles to Transform Your Business from Mediocre to Greatness

“You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.” Les Brown. We live in a very competitive business world where being “good” isn’t good enough.  You have to be great and be ahead of the competition to be successful. How do you begin this journey from mediocrity to greatness in the business world? These seven essential principles can help you create greatness within your business.

1. What Are Your Business’s Values?

You just don’t sell a product or a service.  Your business stands for certain values and these values are what you sell.  What are the values that your business stands for? Are these some of your business values: integrity, loyalty, honesty, trustworthiness or transparency? The next question is what are your daily business practices to uphold those values?

2. What Is Your “Why”?

What is the reason that your business exists and continues to exist? What is the driving force behind your business? What purpose does your business serve and what difference does your business make in the lives of your customers.  Your compelling “why” is what dictates your dedication to your business? It is the life force of your business. It is what will help you to weather the storms in your business.
